Puerto del Carmen



Situated in the municipality of Tías, Puerto del Carmen was originally a fishing village which has since expanded into one of Lanzarote's most imporatnt touristic resort, its excelents beaches have always attracted many visitors and many of them have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Apart from offering sunshine and beaches, this stretch of coastline is a dynamic tourist cantre offering a variety of facilities including, banks, chemists, supermarkets and medical services. There is also a wide range of restaurants which cater for all taste with a selection of local, national and international cuisine. The night-life has something dor every one with it numeorus pubs, discos, cafés and live music clubs.

The resort's busiest and most popular attraction are the beachfront avenue and the old fishing harbour where tourits can take advantage of the various submarine and fishin excursions available. The fondeadero is a government funded cookery scholl whre the public can enjoy excellent food whilst the staff learn their trade. Well worth a visit is one of Spanish's most important studios the Taller of Grabados Linea located in César Marique Street.

A regular bus service connects Puerto del Carmen to the islad´s capital Arrecife which is only 12 km away.
