Haría



Total surface area is 106.6 sq. km. and total population is about 4.500 inhabitants. The municipal capital has an altitude of 270 m. population's entities that depend on Hlaria are: Arrieta, Charco del Palo, Guinate, Máguez, Mala, Orzola, Punta Mujeres, Tabayesco and Ye.

The Atlantic Ocean is to the west, north and east while the municipality of Teguise is to the south. The mountains are to the central and the southern portion. Farmlands dominate the rest of the municipality.

It occupies the north of the island, only limiting with Teguise from the south. From geologic agrarian, ecological, and landscaping point of view, the part of Lanzarote more diverse are: volcanic cones, malpaises, diverse types of agriculture, vegetable endemism, accumulations of sand, etc. it contains the only arboreal concentratinn of Lanzarote: the palm trees of Haria: the only experienee of forest re-population in Peñas del Chache, el Bosquecillo; spaces of exceptional tourist attractiveness as the Jameos del Agua, La Cueva de los Verdes and the Mirador del Rio; The spectacular valleys of Temisas, Tabayesco and Haria; The cliffs of Famara; the salinas of El Rio; Risco beach; the Malpais of La Corona; the volcanic group of la Quemada, La Corona and Los Helechos.

The most important local fiestas to which so much of the capital of the municipality as the diverse areas be long are: Saint Juan (June 24th), Saint Pedro (June 29th), El Cristo de la Sed (The Christ of' the Thirst) (July 1 st), the Carnivals (February), El Pino (The Pine) (September) and Saint Bárbara.

The palm craft highlights on the rest, being famous the baskets made out of pirganos (palm leaves); also those of reed and rosetta made by thread.
